Updates on my Grandfather

Here are the most recent updates on my grandfather...including the good news at the end!

July 24 at 2:09pm
My grandfather's hemoglobin fell to 8.2 from the 9 that it was yesterday. They are going ahead and releasing him today from the hospital against our wishes and even though we don't know why it is still falling. He will be going back to the assisted living where he has been and receiving home health care as well as physical therapy. They will retest his hemoglobin on Friday. At this point, it could be undetected internal bleeding or his body not making enough Red Blood Cells. Please pray for complete healing and wisdom as we seek to give him the best care possible.

Got good news about my grandfather just in time for Shabbat. His hemoglobin is up to 8.9 as of this morning. That is still too low, but it means his body is making red blood cells, he is not bleeding, and he is heading the right direction. Thank you for your prayers, and please continue to pray for his complete recovery.

Pray for my Grandfather.

My grandfather has been in the hospital...here are the updates that I have been posting on my Facebook going from oldest to newest.

July 18 at 12:56pm
Please pray for my grandfather, Bud. He has been hospitalized for GI bleeding. They are planning to do a colonoscopy this afternoon and possibly an endoscopy. Please pray for healing as well as the problem to be quickly found.

Thank you all for praying. Just got an update. Colonoscopy was successful. He has diverticuli. They were able to clean the colon while doing the colonoscopy. Now he just needs a couple of days to start eating and gain strength back before being discharged. Please keep praying. Thank you!

It is amazing what can change in a couple of hours. My grandfather has resumed heavy bleeding from the rectum. They are taking him for stat blood work and a nuclear blood clot scan. Please really pray!

My grandfather is in having procedure for a GI bleed. There is a 50/50 chance it will be successful. Please pray it is, and we wont have to deal with full blown surgery.

At hospital with my grandfather. His blood count was slightly improved this morning, but it is still too low. He has started bleeding again. They may need to do another bleed scan. Please keep praying!

my grandfather had another blood transfusion yesterday.  This morning his hemoglobin was 9.  He is currently stable.  They will test again tomorrow.  Our hope and prayer is that the hemoglobin will hold stable.  That will mean he is heading the right direction, and we can start talking discharge.  If it does not hold, then we will looking at more testing to see why it continues to fall.  Please continue to pray!

Encouraging Article

This article was so encouraging to me today.  It is entitled God Loves You - You Matter a Lot.  You can read it at http://thrivingpastor.org/god-loves-you-you-matter-a-lot/?utm_source=nl_thrivingpastor&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=136001&refcd=136001.  And even though it is addressed to pastors, I believe it applies to everyone!

Shabbat...

My family had a very good weekend. We enjoyed Shabbat with Avi Ben Mordechai and a nice visit from Eddie Chumney.
